Learning content The Faculty of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) aims at nurturing human resources who can solve the diverse needs of the society.
Using “Commnuication & Community” as keywords, HSS focuses on the linkage of human relationship. Students are trained to revitalizing the local community in order to solve social needs through volunteer work and exploring new tourism resources.

A major difference other than other subjects is that, HSS students need to participate in "Active Learning." Apart from leaning tourism, administration, nursing and welfare in classroom, students need to go on-site to communicate and cooperate with people of various aspects. They can apply their knowledge to real business and realize how it works. Hands-on experience is the best way to consolidate what they have learned.

For example, students can learn about the aim of living and working by joining business events held by corporations, or participating in volunteer work. By doing so, they can gain their work and career prospect. At the beginning of their second year in HSS, the students will start studying in their major field choosing from 3 courses: Family Life Course, Community Course and Welfare Course, depending on students’ interests and career plans.

Family Life Course
The Family Life Course covers a wide range of family issues such as career women, children and elderly problem. Students in this course are expected to become professionals in matters of family finance and housing management to improve the quality of their living environment.

Community Course
In order to revitalize local communities, it is important to promote new tourism resources by reflecting both local and global perspectives in actions. Students in this course can learn the skills required to work in administration fields, business and financial sector or in companies serving local needs such as tourism.

Welfare Course
The students in this course are encouraged to obtain a wide range of professional business and welfare-related qualifications to prepare for their future careers. They are expected to become administrators and managers of facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and other social welfare institutions.

HSS courses combined professional lessons in sociology and business, and out-of-classroom lessons "Active Learning." The students can apply their knowledge to real business and realize how it works. With knowledge and experience, they will be successful in their career path and can contribute to the society in the future.
